I would like
to say Thank You to our past president “Mason” who is stepping
down after 10 years of service towards the Supervisors Association. The
Association would not be where it is today without all his work in the
various positions he has held.
I would also like to introduce myself as the new standing
president. I started as an E-Board member with the BPSA in 07 as
treasurer/secretary/membership and we have grown from a little over a
100 members to about 350 members so far. Now that we have gone
National I am sure we will grow even more.
The new website is still undergoing changes but we
are managing to accept the majority of our new member’s through
this site. All E-Board members have an email on this site so you
can contact any one of us for assistance. We look forward to serving
the BPSA for the next 2 years. Of course we also have the BPSA “FORUM” where
all can post so that all can see and where we will also be conducting
some of our BPSA business.
Recently, Matt our Vice President, who also handles
membership, was promoted and moved to New Mexico. Traditionally,
we would have replaced him with someone local because our association
was basically run out of San Diego in view of the fact that about 90%
of the members were California SBPA’s. Now that has changed
so we will change and adapt with it.
We are looking towards a National Board that will
be communicating here onsite and telephonically to conduct the business
of the BPSA. Since our charter never specifically addressed a “national” association,
we will be revising the charter to address our growth and posting the
new one on our site so all may have the opportunity to view it. I welcome
all constructive comments to help us develop our association in the most
productive way possible.
For those of you who don’t know, the E-Board
is comprised of all volunteers elected to keep the Association in place
so that we can have Legal Defense Fund coverage in today’s litigious
society.
Thank You,
Richard Haynes
BPSA President
