The Border Patrol Supervisor’s Association is a professional organization that provides Legal Defense Coverage for its members. Legal Defense Coverage is provided through membership in PORAC. “The PORAC Legal Defense Fund is the nation’s largest and most successful Legal Defense Fund; run by and for peace officers”; LDF website.

Members of the Border Patrol Supervisor’s Association (BPSA) are covered by Plan 1. In short; this plan provides Civil, Criminal & Administrative Actions coverage for actions on or off duty that we are trained to perform. For an in-depth review of coverage documents for BPSA members, please follow the LINKS page and go to the LDF site.

Due to rising costs of legal coverage, the BPSA will be raising dues from $12.00 per pay period to $15.00 per pay period. This will take place immediately for all new applying members. For all existing members, the change in dues will take place in January 1, 2012. (PP1 of 2012)

The BPSA is run by an all volunteer board and in order to streamline our process of accounting, we will be eliminating all forms of payment other than Electronic Deposit trough NFC for all covered members. Using this method, we can better account for members who retire or drop coverage as the payment can only stop at member request or at the conclusion of employment. As payment to the BPSA stops, coverage in LDF will automatically be dropped. This change will commence immediately (8/11) for new membership, and will be fully implemented by January 1, 2012.
